This past weekend I had the pleasure of shooting a wedding at Hotel Los Gatos and Creekside Terrace of Los Gatos. I also enjoyed working with Chris of Video Impressions and Panetta’s Catering.
This beautiful wedding took place at 5pm and the weather was fabulous; I’m really excited about how the pictures turned out! I’m also looking forward to my next wedding later this month, on September 24.
These two weddings got me thinking about how couples can get the most out of their bridal photos. Here are a few tips to keep in mind:
- Make sure you and your fiancé really click with your photographer. Shop for personality too. Remember, you are spending at least 6 hours of this very important day with this person.
- Schedule time during the big day specifically to take photos.
- Look through bridal magazines and wedding photos you find online. Pull out what you like so you can show your photographer what types of photos you want.
- Book an engagement or bridal shoot before the big day to practice poses, get comfortable and make it clear what you prefer.
Create detailed notes of which people or objects are most important to you so the photographer can make sure they get pictures of them.- Let your photographer know if you want something different than what they’re doing.
- Beach shots at sunset can be very romantic, but schedule them after the wedding so your gown does not get wet.
Have you gone through the process of hiring a photographer for a wedding? What additional suggestions would you add?
